Which web hosting company should I use?

I’m planning to host my own blog but I’m having hard time selecting the best and value-for-money web hosting company. I’ve read reviews, done comparison and asked around, but I’m still undecided on which web hosting company I can count on. Help me please.

I use 1and1.com and have never had any problems with them. They are really inexpensive and offer loads of space for what you pay.
They have mySQL servers and mail servers included in the package prices.
1 domain, $3.99 per month, 25 sub-domains, private registration (so people can’t DNS you and find your address – this is a very good thing to get for free), 10 GB webspace, 300 GB bandwidth, 1 ftp account, and up to 600 email accounts with 2GB of space total.
I highly recommend ’cause you are gonna get UNLIMITED disk space and bandwidth for only $7.95/month, but if you’re after a cheaper rate, you can get a plan from for $5.95/month

When choosing a web host it’s of course important to consider the cost (some hosting can be very expensive) but here are some other important things you should take into consideration too:
Web Hosting Space: Some web hosts will only give you 500MB or so of space. This could be a concern if you are looking at creating large websites.
Bandwidth: Some web hosts will severely limit the bandwidth you can use before you incur extra charges.
Uptime: There’s no point in having a website if people can’t see it. Does your web host offer at least a 99% uptime guarantee?
Number of websites allowed: If you’re looking to host more than one website on your account, will your web host charge you more to do this?
Support: If you have any problems you need to be able to contact your web host quickly and easily to get the problem sorted.

Since you’re just doing a blog, you could easily get away with their home package which is $5 and comes with 2 free domain names (this is what I have) – their statistics on bandwith, storage (lots of it!), 20 databases, 50 subdomains…they give you free google/yahoo ad credits, free spreadshirt account & more…
I am very happy with them so far, I had used godaddy before and what a nightmare that was!
